Setup involves replacing or augmenting the existing control panel, wiring sensors and relays to each pad component, and configuring the app. Modern systems also integrate with Alexa or Google Home for voice control.
The practical benefit is consistent schedule enforcement (variable-speed savings depend on the pump running on schedule), remote monitoring (water chemistry alerts), and integration with the rest of the smart home (pool lights tied to landscape lighting scenes).
