Soffit Venting
Continuous or distributed ventilation at the underside of the roof overhang, balancing intake air to the attic.
Definition
What soffit venting actually means.
Soffit vents provide intake ventilation for the attic, paired with ridge or gable vents that exhaust hot air. Florida Building Code requires balanced attic ventilation to manage moisture and heat — without it, attic temperatures and humidity cause roof-deck damage, shingle premature aging, and condensation problems on the home's ceiling assembly. NE Florida's humidity makes attic ventilation more critical than in drier climates.
