Schluter System (Waterproofing)
A manufacturer-engineered waterproofing system (Kerdi, Ditra) used under tile in showers and wet areas to meet ANSI A118.10.
Definition
What schluter system (waterproofing) actually means.
Schluter-Systems products (Kerdi for walls, Ditra-XL for floors) provide a continuous waterproof membrane under tile that meets ANSI A118.10. The system bonds to substrate with thinset, seams are sealed with banding, and tile installs over the membrane. More reliable than traditional sheet-membrane or hot-mop installation, and dramatically more reliable than relying on grout and tile alone. Standard for curbless showers, wet rooms, and steam showers.
