Notice of Termination (NOT)
A document filed at the county courthouse after project completion that closes out the Notice of Commencement.
What notice of termination (not) actually means.
The Notice of Termination is filed under Florida Statute 713.132 after a project is substantially complete. Recording the NOT closes out the NOC and limits the window during which subcontractors or suppliers can record a claim of lien against the property. Property owners should ensure their contractor records a Notice of Termination after final inspection to limit lien exposure.
