Hurricane Rating
A structural classification indicating the wind speed a building or component is designed to withstand.
What hurricane rating actually means.
Hurricane rating expresses the design wind speed (in mph) a structure is engineered to. Renaissance Patio covers are documented to 175 mph — exceeding Florida's most-stringent residential wind zones (140 mph coastal). Hurricane ratings on impact glass, exterior doors, roofing, and patio structures are documented per ASTM E1996 (impact) and Florida Building Code Section 1609 (wind load). "Hurricane-rated" without a specific wind speed citation isn't meaningful.

- ASTM E1996 — impact-resistant building components
